The Lord gave me a wake-up call
In the summer of ’93
On the deathbed of my Grandpa
That’s how ’twas meant to be
Then I questioned all of Life itself
And thought it all absurd
Till I opened up my Bible
And was answered by The Word:
CHORUS:
It’s not you who seek me
It’s I who’ve chosen you
My promises are made in Blood
They have, and will come true
And when your time on Earth is past
You’ll be judged by what you’ve done
But you don’t stand a fighting chance
Till you’re redeemed by the Son!
God gifts us a Free Will
Since love must always choose
Then He chose and gave His everything
Since that is what we’d lose
He can’t love more and He won’t love less
Now the choice is yours to make
Not choosing Jesus
Would be your worst mistake
So come taste the Lord and see
How good it can really get
Knowing Him will change your life
You ain’t seen nothing yet!
He meets my every need
My Daily Bread since I convert
Now I just can’t get enough of Him
And I’m still waiting for dessert!
Lord, when my time will finally come
With You I know I’ll be
All because of Your wakeup call
In the summer of ’93
Then I’ll stand before a righteous Judge
Knowing Jesus will remember
Me, a sinner, saved by Grace alone
You didn’t dial a wrong number
BRIDGE:
Years have past since His call that day
Having embraced my Savior who is the Way
The Truth and the Life – like His Word has said
I now live my days without a dread
But Life it seems is still absurd
That some would choose to distort the Word
And others still stand preconceived
That God is all just make believe
So when you get that wakeup call
Don’t continue to snooze
It might be your only chance
And you have your life to lose
When Jesus calls and calls again
Don’t try to pick a bone
Your salvation might hinge on the fact
That you’re better off picking that phone
And if you ever get down to talking
Keep an open heart and mind
To accept His Grace for all your ways
Or just be left behind.
